Indomie began in Indonesia in 1972 and is now made by Indofood. Its Mi Goreng range was inspired by mie goreng, Indonesia’s stir-fried noodles: springy noodles tossed with seasoning and served without soup. 

Mi Goreng has become a familiar meal across Indonesia, from home kitchens and student rooms to warmindo stalls — small eateries known for serving Indomie. A bowl can be kept simple or dressed up with an egg, vegetables, extra chilli or whatever is to hand.

The BBQ Chicken flavour brings a sweet, savoury barbecue note to the dry fried noodles. Each packet includes seasoning powder, oil and sweet soy sauce. Cook and drain the noodles, then toss them with the sachets so the sauce coats every strand. Add an egg or a little spring onion if you want to make it your own.
