Samyang Foods made Korea’s very first instant ramen back in 1963, and in 2012 it created Buldak Bokkeum Myun, which literally means “fire chicken stir-fried noodles”. Buldak has since become one of Korea’s best-known food exports, loved for its thick, chewy noodles and seriously spicy hot chicken sauce. Buldak Jjajang brings that famous heat together with jjajang, the rich, savoury black bean sauce behind jjajangmyeon, one of Korea’s best-loved comfort dishes.

In Korea, jjajangmyeon is the classic takeaway noodle, famously eaten on moving day and on 14 April, “Black Day”, when singles get together over a bowl of black bean noodles. Jjajang Buldak gives that familiar sweet-savoury flavour a fiery Buldak twist, and the cup makes it an easy grab for a quick lunch, a study break or a late-night snack.
